The Conference of Bishops of France recognized in November the “institutional responsibility” of the Church in the crimes of paedocriminality following the submission of the Sauvé report.

The episcopate launched this Friday a website to follow the implementation of the resolutions taken in March and November 2021 in favor of victims of pedocrime, she announced.

"This site will be updated regularly, for the sake of transparency, so that everyone can be informed as well as possible", specifies the Conference of Bishops of France (CEF).

"A duty of recognition, justice and reparation vis-à-vis these victims"

In November, the CEF recognized the "institutional responsibility" of the Church in crimes of paedocriminality, a month after the submission of the shock report of the Independent Commission on Sexual Abuse in the Church (Ciase) chaired by Jean-Marc Safe.

The bishops "also confirmed that this calls for a duty of recognition, justice and reparation vis-à-vis these victimized persons", they add.

Establishment of a national compensation body for victims, funds to finance this body, creation of nine working groups, national day of prayer, etc... Concretely, the website specifies, for each measure taken in 2021 , its state of progress, by the words "done", "in progress", "pending" or "to be done".

On this site, on the day of the launch, the CEF gathered nine measures or series of measures under the heading "done" and counted 15 others "in progress".
