Since 2014, all asylum seekers and migrants who come to Gävleborg are offered a free health examination.
The operation was scaled down after the large influx of refugees around 2015, but now more nurses are being connected to the operation again to receive refugees from Ukraine.
Vaccination protection
The health survey includes individual health interviews and samples.

Covid vaccination
- The main task is to fight infection control and when it comes to covid-19, everyone who comes here will now be referred to the vaccination places that exist, says Göran Westerlund, district physician asylum and migrant health Gävleborg.
In connection with the health examination, Asylum and migrant health helps to book a doctor's appointment for, for example, care and refilling of medicine.
- We are usually their first contact with care and it is not uncommon for the people we meet to be traumatized and need support in several different ways, says Per Baumeister.
