- The book is not about death, because death is a phenomenon you can not write about, because you can not come back and write about it, but it is about aging before the end, says Lennart Sjögren, poet living in northern Öland.

Writes about elderly care

He says that he started writing the book three years ago.

- This idea came to me.

The environment itself in nursing homes is very special, he says.

The book, The Red Apple, is his latest book in a series of writings dating back to 1958. But this book is his last, he says.

- Yes, I would think it's my last book.

But stop writing, I will never do that.

I have that in me, says Lennart Sjögren.

Tranströmerpriset

Around the same time as his latest book came out, he was awarded the Tranströmer Prize.

- It was a recognition that I appreciate.

Tranströmer is really a recognized poet and it feels fun to be remembered from there, he says.
