It is the oldest fermented drink.

The production of mead dates back to the Neolithic period, 9000 years before our era (wine will not arrive until 4000 years later!).

However, man would have consumed it long before, whereas mead was “made” naturally in flooded hives.

It is a drink made from water and honey, which would have appeared in China.

We also find traces of it in Egypt and especially in Greece, whose people will give it its letters of nobility;

mead is the sacred drink of the gods of Olympus.

In regions conducive to the development of the vine, wine supplanted mead over the centuries, but in the northern regions, it resisted until the 16th century, before giving way to beer.

In recent years, it has experienced a resurgence of interest thanks mainly to the Game of Thrones series.

To make a good mead, you have to choose your honey carefully (it's obviously what will give the drink its aromas).

Water (spring) is added to it and the fermentation process theoretically starts on its own.

The ratio is about 1 liter of water for 250 gr of honey if you want a dry mead.

In the kitchen, it can be used to make marinades, with soy sauce and honey.

You can also deglaze a pan with (pork chops in mead) or use it to cook a duck.
