• Courts The National Court investigates the irregular financing of CDC through production companies that worked with TV3

Offensive by the Government of Pere Aragonès against the former Democratic Convergence of Catalonia (CDC) despite the fact that many of its public officials, those linked to Junts Per Catalunya, come from that party.

The legal services of the Generalitat have asked the National Court to appear in the separate piece that investigates the irregular financing of the party of Jordi Pujol and Artur Mas through the audiovisual production company Triacom and its business with TV3.

Specifically, the investigators consider that the company allegedly channeled payments received from public money, both for its work in the production of TV3 programs or other services for the Catalan administration such as the Servei Metereológico, to the CDC.

In addition, Triacom's work towards large multinationals, such as Telefónica, is also being investigated, since it specifically received some 3 million euros for tasks that were not carried out.

In total, the production company obtained more than 30 million euros between 2008 and 2016 from the Catalan administration.

The National Court points in the '3% case' to the alleged irregular financing of CDC through entities and in the payment of services to the party during electoral campaigns of 2010 and 2015, such as those denounced by those responsible for the Hispart company.

For this reason, the Generalitat considers that it is an injured party in this procedure and asks to appear as a private prosecution, according to 'El Periódico'.

Together with the petition, the legal services of the Govern accompany a letter from Pere Aragonès in which he requests to be an accusation since "the investigation would include facts that would affect the interests and the legal sphere" of both the Generalitat and the Catalan Corporació de Mitjans Audiovisuals (CCMA), on which TV3 depends.

Now the Prosecutor's Office must report on whether the Generalitat should be accepted as harmed in this procedure.

The National Court suspects that the CDC could stop financing itself irregularly through donations to its foundations, as was proven in the case of the Palau de la Música, to do so by production companies such as Triacom.

We will see if the performance of Pere Aragonès affects his battered relations with his partners in the Govern de JxCat since he has strong ties with the CDC.
