South Korean and American military authorities took immediate military action in response to North Korean provocations.



The land, sea, and air precision strike drills were conducted in Gangwon-do at around 4:25 pm, about an hour and 50 minutes after North Korea launched an ICBM.



First of all, five missiles used to strike North Korea were fired one after another, including the Hyunmoo 2 and A-TaKims from land, the Haesong 2 from the sea, and the JDAM, a type of guided missile in the air.



Considering the distance to Pyongyang, the point of provocation, is about 250 km, the target is set on the East Sea and struck with land, sea, and air missiles.



Defense Minister Seo Wook previously inspected the training site last week.



Signs of North Korea's missile launch have been detected by South Korean and US military authorities since last week.



The South Korean military believes that North Korea is ready to launch a missile at any time, and has activated all monitoring assets to keep an eye on North Korea.



The US and South Korean military have issued a series of statements condemning North Korea's launch today (24th).



Our Joint Chiefs of Staff defined North Korea's refusal to engage in dialogue with the international community and forced its launch of an ICBM as a serious challenge to the ROK-U.S. alliance.



The U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, which oversees operations on the Korean Peninsula, also condemned the North Korean missile launch and said the U.S.' contribution to South Korea's defense is strong.



The ROK and US military authorities are currently strengthening their alert posture in case of further North Korean provocations.
