It started with Sigge from Gotland who when he was one year old came with his parents to the photo studio in Södertälje.

- It was when I was met by the smile that I was stuck, Ulrich remembers.

Since then, I have continued to photograph mainly children with Down Syndrome.

The pictures have become an exhibition that can be seen at Nora Library until 14 April.

Wants to counteract prejudice

The purpose is to counteract prejudices about the disease and for that he often chooses to show the children smiling and with all his attention to the viewer.

- That is when it becomes most magical and powerful, says Ulrich Schulte.
