In addition to the person convicted of aiding and abetting, all convicts participated in courses organized by the training company Labcenter in 2016 and 2017. In connection with the courses, they were allowed to choose "lab accessories" which consisted of mobile phones, computers, other electronics, bicycles or gift cards.

Higher demands on public employees

The district court makes the assessment that these accessories have been part of the training company's marketing, in order to get prospective course participants to choose their particular courses.

The court also writes in the judgment that "for those who work in public activities, there are generally higher demands on integrity and a sense of responsibility than on employees in private activities".

It is also believed that the crimes were committed more out of "recklessness than out of direct intent to enrich oneself".

In the autumn of 2020, staff at the Swedish Maritime Administration were prosecuted for receiving bribes from the same company.
