December 21, 2021, the Danish hunter was sitting in a hunting tower in Sinnermåla in Högsby municipality.

He sees an animal moving at a bait about 60-80 meters away, lifts the weapon with a thermal sight and shoots.

As the animal continues to move, he fires a second shot.

Difficult to understand mistake

When he went to check what he thought was a wild boar, he realized that he had shot a hunting dog.

According to the preliminary investigation, the visibility at the site is good and given the thermal visibility, it seems difficult to understand that the dog may have been mistaken for a wild boar.

The survey also shows that the dog was only hit by a shot.

Admits crime

The dog had had tracks on a moose since the owner released it on its land earlier in the day.

The Danish hunter's weapon was seized and he is now charged with misdemeanor against the hunting law;

serious hunting crime and vandalism.

The man confesses to the crime.
