Biden calls for Russia to be excluded from the G-20

US President Joe Biden called for Russia to be excluded from the Group of Twenty, and to invite Ukraine to attend the next summit of the group instead of Russia.

The US President announced in Brussels Thursday that Russian President Vladimir Putin was "betting on the division of NATO" when the invasion of Ukraine began, but that the alliance "is more united today than ever."

After a summit of NATO and the Group of Seven in Brussels, Biden said that Putin "did not believe that we would be able to maintain this unity. NATO is more united today than ever before. Putin got exactly the opposite of what he wanted when he invaded Ukraine."

The US president added that there would be a response if Russia used chemical weapons in Ukraine.

Biden added during his statements: "I did not threaten the Chinese president, but I spoke frankly with him about the consequences of providing assistance to Russia, and I told him that the future of his country's economy is with the West and not with Russia."

A statement issued by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization "NATO" today, Thursday, said that Russia's attack on Ukraine is the most serious threat to European security in decades, announcing the deployment of more combat aircraft in Eastern Europe, and that the raising of the alliance's combat capability will continue in Eastern Europe.
