As the number of people fleeing outside Ukraine continues to increase due to the military invasion by Russia, one employee from the Red Cross Hospital in Osaka will be dispatched to neighboring Moldova to support neighboring countries.

Prior to departure, officials stated their determination to "perform their duties to properly deliver relief supplies to those in need."

Russia's military invasion of Ukraine has been a month since its invasion, and according to the United Nations, more than 3.62 million people have been evacuated abroad as of the 22nd.

Amid growing needs for assistance in neighboring countries, a staff member from the Osaka Red Cross Hospital in Tennoji Ward, Osaka, will be dispatched to Moldova, a neighboring country of Ukraine.

Mr. Kensuke Kawai (40), an administrative staff member, will be dispatched to work as an emergency relief worker for the International Red Cross based in Moldova for about two months.

He is responsible for the warehouse of relief supplies locally, and is responsible for accepting supplies and materials from all over the world and transporting them to the relief site according to their needs.

This is the first time that Japan has dispatched staff as emergency relief personnel for the International Red Cross to support Ukraine and neighboring countries.

Mr. Kawai is scheduled to depart on the 25th, saying, "This is my first time to support conflict areas, but I want to thoroughly manage safety, properly deliver supplies to those in need, and work hard."
