It was shortly after 5 pm on Monday evening that the police were alerted that there had been a serious crime at the school in central Malmö.

A patrol was quickly on the scene and was able to arrest the suspected perpetrator who was later arrested during the night.

Later in the evening, the police confirmed that two employees at the school, two women in their 50s, were injured and taken to hospital by ambulance.

But their lives could not be saved.

Support and calls

- All teachers and students are extremely concerned.

I do not think you can describe it in words, says Marie Wall Almquist, chairman of the Teachers' Association in Malmö.

How do you handle it?

- The better, we have no habit.

That should not happen.

We have made sure we are in place.

We have rigged our entire organization already yesterday to be able to provide support and conversations.

The teachers' union says that it is too early to say whether there are routines at the school that have broken down.

- Not as we can see today.

The investigation will show this in the future.

Intensify preventive work

Is there anything you can do differently in the future when it comes to security?

- It is clear that there are many technical aids.

What we think is that you intensify the preventive work and that you ensure that there are resources and support for the staff.
