Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hagiuda will travel to France and Belgium to attend the IEA's Ministerial Council and exchange views with the European Commission's ministers.

Specifically, the themes are to secure new suppliers and invest in LNG = liquefied natural gas in order to reduce the dependence on Russian natural gas.



In Japan, the government and major trading companies are deeply involved in oil and gas development projects in Sakhalin, the Russian Far East.



Japan intends to make it an important business for the stable supply of energy, and to clarify its strict stance toward Russia while ensuring energy security according to the circumstances of each country.



In Belgium, Minister Hagiuda will hold talks with the ministers of the European Commission and exchange opinions on deepening relations with the EU and cooperation with volunteer countries in light of the situation in Ukraine.
