The Presidential Transition Committee for President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol has begun the election of the first prime minister to lead the new government's cabinet.

A key official from the elected Yoon Seok-yeol's side told SBS, "The prime minister candidate has been compressed into three.

It is known that the elected Seok-Yeol Yoon will receive a report within this week, and after that, the elected candidate will meet the candidates in person and begin the full-scale verification process at the level of the transition committee.

An official from Yoon's side said, "The prime minister candidate will be one each from bureaucrats, businessmen, and politicians."

Among bureaucrats, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and KDI female economist Yoon Hee-sook, former lawmaker of People's Power, are mentioned, and as entrepreneurs, former president of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Park Yong-man.

Among the People's Power lawmakers, National Assembly Vice Chairman Jeong Jin-seok, former floor leader Joo Ho-young, and current floor leader Ki-hyun Kim are on the agenda.

As the approval of the prime minister requires the consent of a majority of members of the National Assembly, there is also an observation that Kim Han-gil, a former Democratic Party representative, and Kim Byung-joon, the former head of the government's policy office, Kim Byung-joon, who served as the policy chief of the Roh Moo-hyun government, could be nominated.

While there is interest as to whether Ahn Cheol-soo, chairman of the People's Party, will serve as the first prime minister following the transition chairperson, Kwon Seong-dong, who is close to Yoon-elect, also drew a line, saying, "Holding a key position in a row in itself can be seen as excessive greed."
