On the occasion of World Water Day, the NGO Solidarités International marked the event by installing a giant fountain on Place de la République (11th arrondissement) in Paris.

The work of the Parisian street artist Jordane Saget, 3 m high, is connected to a tank truck, symbol of the action of the NGO.

“Our organization drills and repairs wells, but the emergency solution, most often, is to supply the areas in need with tank trucks,” explains Antoine Peigney.

Giving symbolic insight into what billions of people experience

In addition to presenting his work, Jordane Saget organized, with the association, a distribution of glass bottles, designed by himself, which the volunteers could fill at the fountain.

Several hundred people lined up this Tuesday morning to get the precious sesame.

“You waited a few tens of minutes, I wanted you to experience what more than 2 billion people experience every day in the world,” commented the artist.

Justine, a member of the NGO present this Tuesday morning, specifies that "in many countries, individuals, most often women and little girls, wait nearly 6 to 8 hours every day, just for water. .

In France too, in the slums around Paris or the big cities, many people do not have access to drinking water.

Present in Ukraine since the start of the conflict, Solidarités international works, thanks to its 2,500 members, in 24 countries around the world.

It is possible to support the NGO on its website.
