At the end of the hearings, the magistrate reclassified the charge of the driver as "manslaughter" and for the passenger as "non-assistance to persons in danger" in view of the statements of the suspects and the elements of the investigation. which she had.

The driver admitted that he was driving way too fast

The driver of the car said he had turned his head in the direction of his passenger, his cousin, with whom he was talking when he hit the group which proceeded to pick up the Gilles.

"He tells me 'I'm facing a wall, I don't even understand what I have in front of me'", assured the defendant's lawyer to RTBF, adding that his client acknowledged that he was driving too fast, "at 80 or 90 km/h" when they were returning from a nightclub.

The other elements in the possession of the investigating judge were the first results of the toxicological analyses.

According to the attorney general, the driver's saliva tests were negative for narcotics.

The respondent, on the other hand, was positive for alcohol, but at a rate below the limit implying a withdrawal of license.

“What is still very surprising is the speed and the lack of braking,” the Attorney General was surprised on Monday.

The driver was remanded in custody and his passenger was placed under judicial supervision.
