The experiences from the refugee wave in 2015 mean that the starting distance to be able to receive refugee children into the school is shorter.

Sävsjö was the municipality in the county that received the highest proportion of refugees then.

- If there are many children, we have a plan to start up a reception unit.

In that case, we will open up an external room where we can carry out surveys of the state of knowledge before we place them in school classes, says head of children and education Martina Arvidsson.

The municipality is currently advertising for more staff for the school, including mother tongue teachers in Ukrainian.

Can take the help of Ukrainian teachers

An SD politician in Sävsjö, Bo Ek, proposes that Ukrainian children can instead be educated in their own groups with teachers who have also fled the country.

Could it be an alternative?

- All students who come to Sweden have the right to study according to the Swedish school system, so those who come we enroll in Swedish schools.

But how do you see the proposal to enlist the help of Ukrainian teachers?

- We have the opportunity to employ Ukrainian teachers who come to Sweden, so there are great opportunities that we could benefit from it.
