An escort of Irene Montero declared this Tuesday before the judge that a press officer from Podemos was in charge of babysitting for the Minister of Equality.

This has been explained by sources present in the statement developed within the

nanny case

, in which the Madrid judge

Juan José Escalonilla

tries to clarify whether public money was spent on the care of Montero's children and the former Vice President of the Government and former leader of We can Pablo Iglesias.

The investigation was initiated by the indications that an advisor to Montero in Equality, Teresa Arévalo, had been in charge of the care on some specific trips.

The witness has indicated that she could not clarify anything about Arévalo, but she did say that a Podemos press officer, Gara Santana, regularly babysat for Montero.

She knew because she often had to take the journalist-nanny and the children to the Montero-Iglesias' house.

She has specified that the press officer complained about the task that she had assigned to her and that she was "tired" of it.

The witness added that other people from the communication team also complained because that meant taking on Santana's job while she was babysitting.

The witness has indicated that she did not know if the journalist-nanny was paid by the United We Can Parliamentary Group

In addition to the role of the press officer, according to sources present at the statement, the witness has explained on numerous occasions that Montero told her that she had to do tasks that did not correspond to those of her role as an escort.

Some were of a clearly personal nature, such as "going to look for Irene Montero's father" or other people on the team.

At the end of the statements, the Vox Justice spokeswoman -one of the personal accusations- has stated that they will ask the judge to call Gara Santana to testify to clarify her activities as a caregiver.
