Traffic outside Chickenville I, in a California city, has become so unusual that local officials are considering declaring the popular fast food joint a "public nuisance."

Santa Barbara officials said some motorists could not even cross the road because of queues at the drive-through service;

Traffic remains suspended for hours on end.

The city traffic expert, the police chief, and the director of community development assessed the situation, and they believe that the constant obstruction of traffic on State Street is a public nuisance, and the reason is due to the car-to-restaurant services, and this is what a traffic study in the city concluded. According to a report by CBS News.

The study found that queues of cars block a lane on a public road for up to 90 minutes every weekday, and 155 minutes on weekends.

“Chickenville Eye has an obvious problem here,” Santa Barbara City Council member Kristen Sneddon said.

The board voted unanimously to move forward with the restaurant's designation as a "public nuisance," but agreed to keep the public hearing open, until June 7.

Chickenville I, known for its delicious chicken sandwiches, requested a delay before the final vote.

The Santa Barbara branch, opened in 2013, is the chain's only outlet in the city.

Travis Collins, who runs the restaurant, said he wanted to be a "good neighbor" and was looking to increase staff and traffic control to ease the problem.
