  Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, March 21. At about 14:38 on March 21, China Eastern Airlines flight MU5735 lost contact and crashed over Wuzhou City, Guangxi during the Kunming-Guangzhou mission.

There were 123 passengers and 9 crew members on board.

  After the accident, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the State, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, immediately gave important instructions. He was shocked to learn that China Eastern Airlines Flight MU5735 had crashed. He should immediately activate the emergency mechanism, fully organize search and rescue, and properly handle the aftermath.

The State Council appointed leading comrades to coordinate and deal with the incident as soon as possible to find out the cause of the accident as soon as possible, draw inferences from one case to another, strengthen the investigation of potential safety hazards in the field of civil aviation, pay close attention to the implementation of responsibilities, ensure the absolute safety of aviation operations, and ensure the absolute safety of people's lives.
