• The Medical Stadium, a brand new health sports center opened its doors a few months ago in Bordeaux.

  • This structure offers comprehensive care for patients (professional or amateur athletes) thanks to around forty health professionals and state-of-the-art technological equipment.

  • Located near the sports clinic, the center also offers a leisure area (three indoor football pitches and two padel courts) and training area.

You can come across Stan Wawrinka, Ferland Mendy or Matthieu Jalibert while doing your own re-athletic session or a game of padel with your friends.

It's a bit like the Medical Stadium concept.

A kind of “big toolbox for athletes” as Sonia Baudot describes it, where every day amateurs and professionals meet.

She is none other than the wife of Christophe Baudot, a very famous sports doctor in France who passed through the XV of France, OM, OL and current medical director of PSG.

He is the boss of this brand new health sports center opened a few months ago in Mérignac.

A unique place in France.

Indeed, unlike for example the Cers (European sports rehabilitation center) of Saint-Raphaël or Capbreton, it is a 100% private structure, open to all and not only medical.

In this 6,000m² building, you can therefore treat yourself but also practice (two padel courts and three indoor football courts) or train (for health professionals).

"It's an idea of 20 years of my husband, explains the one who manages the center on a daily basis.

The objective is to offer a global offer with consultation, complete course of care, practice of sport, relaxation... We come in addition to the sports clinic and the osteoarthritis center located on the pole and with whom we work hand in the hand ".

With three floors, a real demarcation between leisure, medical and training.

Ultra-individualized follow-up

The main activity of the structure is of course the medical follow-up with a veritable armada of specialists.

They are about forty on the spot.

Doctors, cardiologists, physiotherapists, osteopaths, podiatrists, nutritionists, mental trainers... There are also big names like the renowned surgeon Gilles Reboul.

This cast inevitably attracts top athletes, such as the former world tennis number 3, Stan Wawrinka.

The Swiss spent almost two months this winter at the Medical Stadium where he was able to take advantage of state-of-the-art equipment such as the three 100% electric whole-body cryotherapy chambers (without nitrogen) or a 30m track of motion analysis with dozens of sensors.

"Compared to others, we want to offer the most individualized support possible", specifies Alain Marsau, an employee.

And that whether you are Kylian Mbappé or the Sunday morning soccer player.

For high-level athletes, the structure can also rely on its concierge service for pick-up, travel, etc.

A structure available to clubs

The goal for the Medical Stadium is also to forge partnerships with clubs like the Girondins de Bordeaux a few weeks ago.

Sonia Baudot:

"The structure is not there to compete with the medical staff of the clubs and say that we are the best, but rather to collaborate, to provide them with support for better care thanks to our equipment and specialists".

The objective is to provide access to many tools that clubs do not necessarily have on site.

Always with the desire to improve care by going in particular as quickly as possible because "a player who is injured is never good for anyone", she adds.

As a small example, the chief podiatrist, Matthieu Pivard, “can consult then in a few minutes go and create the right insole in his on-site workshop.

The center seeks above all to turn to semi-professional clubs, these clubs which often do not have medical staff or in any case not 100%.

For example, the BBL (Bordeaux Burges Lormont) of Philippe Gardent which has a big sporting project with the rise in the elite of French handball relies on the Medical Stadium.

"We are there above all to help them in their development until the day when they may have the means to get by on their own," says Sonia Baudot.
