U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin recently traveled to Bulgaria to discuss the situation in Ukraine with Bulgarian Prime Minister Petkov and meet with U.S. and NATO troops stationed in the country.

During Austin's visit, Bulgarians held an anti-NATO rally demanding the withdrawal of NATO troops from the country.

According to the Russian Satellite News Agency, on March 19, local time, Bulgarian demonstrators gathered in front of the country’s Ministry of Defense building, where Austin and Petkov held a joint press conference.

The demonstrators waved the Bulgarian flag and other flags, opposed the transfer of their country's "scarce weapons" to Ukraine, and chanted slogans such as "NATO get out".

Russian media pointed out that similar anti-NATO protests took place not only in Bulgaria, but also in Rome and Pisa, Italy.

Activists from a trade union in Italy have spoken out against arms transfers to Ukraine and called on their government to abandon NATO.
