Mossos d'Esquadra
arrested a man this afternoon who turned himself in at a Barcelona Police station and claimed that he had killed his ex-partner in a house in the
Sant Martí
district .
As reported by the regional police, around half past six this afternoon a man has appeared at the police offices of the Sant Martí Urban Guard and has assured that he had killed his ex-partner.
Local police officers have carried out several checks and have located the lifeless body of a woman who, according to initial indications, has died a violent death, for which the man has been arrested.
Sources close to the case have told Efe that the woman was the
mother of a small child
.
Agents of the Mossos of the
Metropolitan Police Region of Barcelona
have opened an investigation to determine the causes of the death of this resident of the Catalan capital.
If it is confirmed that it is a sexist crime, the number of women killed by gender violence would rise to 8 in 2022 and 1,134 since 2003, after the last confirmed murder, which took place in Ceuta on March 14.
The number of orphaned minors rises to 6 in 2022 and to 342 since 2013.
