The Ukrainian president addressed the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, on Sunday.

Volodymyr Zelensky estimated that Jerusalem would be "the right place to find peace" by evoking the negotiations with Russia which he calls for.

This Monday, the editorialist Vincent Hervouët returns to this intervention before the Israeli Parliamentary Assembly and draws a parallel between Vladimir Putin and Bashar al-Assad.

Ukraine's president on Sunday outside the Knesset

No one is a prophet in his own country.

Volodymyr Zélensky was applauded standing by British, American, European and German deputies, but he aroused more reservations on Sunday in Tel Aviv.

The only Jewish president in the world, apart from that of Israel, is applauded everywhere as a hero but he fails to convince the Knesset to deliver arms to him or to apply sanctions against Russia.

It's because Israeli leaders are moving on eggshells: 20% of voters are of Russian origin.

There remains a strong Jewish community in Ukraine.

The conflict therefore leaves no one indifferent.

But what really matters is the other war.

The 40-year war, obscure, permanent, vital: the war with Iran.

And in this part, we must spare Russia

Before going to bomb the pro-Iranian militias in Syria, Israel warned Moscow, which looked elsewhere and did not activate its surface-to-air missiles.

And Moscow can block the normalization with Iran that Joe Biden wants.

He is ready to put the Iran nuclear deal back on track.

For Israel, it's a fool's bargain.

It must be prevented.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett spoke about it to Vladimir Putin, whom he went to see in the Kremlin.

Officially, it was to attempt mediation in the Ukrainian conflict.

She didn't give anything, we don't talk about it anymore.

On the other hand, Moscow now requires guarantees before co-signing the Iranian nuclear agreement.

Naftali Bennett did not sacrifice his Shabbat in vain.

The moral of these crossovers is that States have no friends, even when they are one of us, when they wear khaki t-shirts and plead with the eloquence of a hero, States have interests.

Their moral is to defend them and for that, they are ready to ally themselves with the Devil.

The United Arab Emirates hosted Bashar al-Assad this weekend

He was the devil of the last decade.

For ten years, he has come out of his hell to go to Moscow and Tehran, his two allies.

The trip to Abu Dhabi was the first in the Arab world since 2011… Suffice to say that he savored the red carpet rolled out to him by Prince MBZ of Abu Dhabi and Prince MBR of Dubai.

He must have appreciated their sugary arabesques which praised fraternal relations and Syria, the pillar of Arab security… When they say Arab security, we must hear: “Crush the Muslim Brotherhood”.

Vladimir Putin, whom the West considers a war criminal, must appreciate this rehabilitation of Bashar al-Assad.

He sees that the hardest part will be to last.

With time, amnesia becomes amnesty.

The United Arab Emirates are, however, France's ally...

France has provided the Louvre and the Sorbonne, installed a military base facing Iran, sold fighter planes, armored vehicles, cannons and also the tramway, the metro, the Airbuses, there are 600 subsidiaries of French companies .

They were given everything and even a place in La Francophonie.

The Emirates are our best customer in the Middle East.

This does not mean that we are their main ally.

For years they have been waging a dirty war in Yemen and we coyly avert our eyes.

In other words, our enemies are not those of our friends.

Their friends are not ours.

And the horror aroused by war crimes remains very relative.
