Israel prevents the governor of Jerusalem in the Palestinian Authority from traveling abroad

The Israeli authorities prevented the Governor of Jerusalem in the Palestinian Authority, Adnan Ghaith, from traveling abroad through the Karama crossing between the West Bank and Jordan.

The official Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) stated that the Israeli authorities detained Ghaith and his media advisor, Marouf Al-Rifai, for several hours, and prevented them from traveling through the Karama crossing, and handed the governor a summons to review its intelligence.

Al-Rifai stated that the governor was detained for four hours before being informed of a travel ban on his way to Saudi Arabia to represent Palestine in the Arab Cities Conference.

It is noteworthy that Israel has been detaining Ghaith for sporadic periods since he assumed his position as governor of Jerusalem at the end of 2018, and has also prevented him from entering the West Bank on the pretext of communicating with the Palestinian leadership.
