Following a colorful, joyous and uneventful parade in the afternoon, the end of the evening of the independent carnival of the Plain, in Marseilles, degenerated somewhat.
Nine people were initially arrested around 10 p.m.
Firefighters and police intervened on Place Jean-Jaurès to put an end to the traditional carnival float fires, when they suffered projectiles, said the police headquarters.
Urban equipment, cameras and electric masts, was also degraded.
Later in the night, five other people were arrested at the level of the Reformed for similar facts, reports
La Provence
, according to which, the municipality will file a complaint for these degradations.
The independent carnival of the Plain had brought together nearly 6,500 people in the afternoon in a festive atmosphere and without incident.
