A 65-year-old man died on Saturday at his home in Fleury-les-Aubrais (Loiret).

A large amount of blood was found around the lifeless sexagenarian, who also bore numerous bite marks.

Five American Staff type dogs were with the victim, reports France 3 Center Val de Loire.

The animals belong to a couple who lived on site.

Evacuated dogs

The man and the woman discovered the occupant of the premises on the ground while returning from a walk of several hours.

They then called the emergency services.

Specialized firefighters first evacuated the dogs and took them to the SPA.

Rescuers then took charge of the victim, but were unable to save him.

An investigation was carried out to clarify the context in which the man died.

The investigations will have to determine in particular whether he was attacked by the dogs or if he felt unwell and that the animals attacked him afterwards.
