The rise in cases of Covid-19 contamination continues in France, but the number of hospitalizations is down.

The number of new cases recorded on Sunday March 20 is 81,283.

The seven-day daily average, which smooths out the daily jolts, is on the rise: it stands at 89,002 against 86,022 on Saturday and 65,251 a week ago, according to figures published by health authorities.

At the same time, the number of people hospitalized for Covid-19 continues to decrease over a week, with 20,566 patients affected on Sunday against 20,917 a week earlier.

Pressure relief

Hospitals received 323 new Covid-19 patients on Sunday, compared to 620 on Saturday.

The pressure continues to ease a little in the intensive care units, which had 1,642 patients on Sunday, including 30 admissions, against 1,644 on Saturday, and 1,855 last Sunday.

The disease has claimed 27 people in 24 hours in hospitals for a total death toll of 140,933 in France since the start of the pandemic more than two years ago.

On the vaccination side, 54.27 million people in total have received at least one injection (80.5% of the total population), 53.35 million have a complete vaccination schedule (79.1%) and 39.40 million have received a booster dose.
