China News Agency, Jakarta, March 21 (Reporter Lin Yongchuan) Deng Xijun, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN, said in Jakarta on the 21st that the current situation in Ukraine has brought important inspiration to ASEAN countries.

On the same day, Deng Xijun held a video press conference in Jakarta and made the above remarks when answering questions about how China views the current situation in Ukraine and what impact or enlightenment the Ukraine issue will have on East Asia.

Deng Xijun said that the Ukrainian issue has a complex historical background and latitude and longitude.

The immediate priority is to maintain the necessary restraint to de-escalate the situation, promote peace talks and prevent a large-scale humanitarian crisis.

China will strengthen communication and coordination with all parties, actively provide humanitarian assistance, and continue to play a constructive role in promoting peace and talks.

Deng Xijun pointed out that the United States, Europe and other Western countries are currently spreading all kinds of false and false information about China around the Ukraine issue. Their methods are despicable and sinister, and they intend to shirk responsibility and smear China. I believe that ASEAN countries will distinguish right from wrong and not be misled.

Deng Xijun said, noting that the situation in Ukraine has aroused in-depth thinking about the situation in the region from all walks of life in ASEAN, some mainstream views are impressive and thought-provoking:

First, the situation of peace and stability in East Asia is very precious.

Peace is the foundation of development and prosperity.

In the three decades since the end of the Cold War, East Asia has maintained peace, stability, development and prosperity. It is the result of the joint efforts and careful maintenance of regional countries. This situation is hard-won and needs to be cherished.

Second, to maintain peace and stability, we must follow the correct security concept.

No country can only pursue absolute security on its own or unilaterally. It should uphold the concept of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security, abandon the idea of exclusive security and absolute security, adhere to the spirit of multilateralism, and fully consider and accommodate the reasonable security of all parties. concern.

Third, the peace and tranquility of the region must be jointly and independently maintained by countries in the region.

We must not allow foreign powers to introduce group confrontation into the region, let alone use regional countries as a tool for group confrontation and geopolitical games.

Countries in the region should insist on ending conflicts through negotiation, resolving disputes through dialogue, enhancing mutual trust through cooperation, and jointly discussing regional security cooperation mechanisms to maintain regional peace and tranquility.
