Holi is celebrated in India as a kind of Thanksgiving after the harvest season.

- It is usually very hot in India during this time of year, so we play a lot with water and colors, says Arshi Shaikh, who was part of the celebration.

The meaning of colors

Friendship is the big theme during the day.

The colors that are thrown symbolize different things:

- We use colors that represent joy: pink is love and affection, green is peace and that is what we need now, says Kannan Krishnan.
