A special envoy of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, which mediates dialogue between the military and democratic forces in Myanmar, where the turmoil continues after the coup d'etat, will start operations in Myanmar from the 21st.

This is the first time that the special envoy has entered Myanmar, and the focus will be on finding clues to overcome the stalemate between the military and the pro-democracy.

Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Lim Jock Hoi, who has been appointed as a special envoy, will stay in Myanmar from the 21st to the 23rd with ASEAN Secretary-General Lim Jock Hoi.

ASEAN decided to dispatch a special envoy at the summit meeting in April last year, but the visit was finally realized nearly 11 months after that.

In Myanmar, while the military continues to crack down on civilians, the pro-democracy is also persistently resisting and showing no stance to approach each other.

Under these circumstances, the focus will be on whether the special envoy can find a clue to overcome the stalemate.

The envoy is supposed to meet with all parties to mediate the dialogue.

However, although Prak Sokong is looking for ways to achieve dialogue with the pro-democracy, this time he has shown his willingness to prioritize working with the military.

On the other hand, there is a growing sense of caution among ASEAN member countries that take a strict position on Myanmar's democratic forces and the military, and the special envoy is likely to be severely evaluated for its neutrality.
