"The Mother of Girls" gives up everything to take care of "Hana"... The tale of a brave young woman celebrated by the "Dubai Expo"

Today, Expo 2020 Dubai witnessed a special celebration for the visit of a brave young woman, as a unique message of congratulations on her birthday was broadcast on the screens installed in the Rove Hotel inside the site, which surrounds Al Wasl Square.

Hana Shah, who is confined to a wheelchair, was diagnosed with two separate and rare conditions she had been suffering from for six years: Nutcracker syndrome and spinal muscular atrophy, which affected her intestines, kidneys and heart.

These diseases prevented the process of digesting food properly, causing her severe pain, and as a result she consumes less than 300 calories per day and weighs 38 kg.

Her mother, Fatima Shah, said: “Hana has been through a lot over the past two years.

Doctors had to insert a G-tube (gastrostomy) into her stomach, and they also had to put a nasal tube into the nasal cavity, and she currently has a median tube into her heart, and this is how we feed her.”

Hana had visited Expo Dubai twice before, but asked her parents if she could visit the international event again on her 23rd birthday, which coincided today.

The mother, Fatima, explained to the "Expo News" services that Hana enjoyed the special welcome, and that she is excited to return to the "Dubai Expo" for the third time with her three sisters, one of whom came from the United Kingdom specifically to celebrate this occasion.

She confirmed, "Hana loves (Expo Dubai).

She is social by nature, loves to get to know people of different nationalities, and is fond of a diversity of cultures, and Hana's character is that she always likes to look at humanity and unity, and this is where she gets what she wants.”

Hana's family hails from the United Kingdom, but she has lived in Dubai for eight years, and Hana now needs a private surgery in the US state of Florida, which will cost her family about 530,000 dirhams.

As Hana's full-time caregiver, Fatima has had to give up her job, and her family is now trying to raise funds for Hana's travel to the United States, and will soon set up a fund for donations.

Through her daughter, Fatima explained: “Hana said that she loves dance shows, entertainment, and visiting pavilions.

She is fond of the cultural wealth that is reflected in the participation of different countries.

She added that Hana loves all that an international event has to offer, but that the Alef Pavilion (the Mobility Pavilion) is a special place for her.
