A measure of service development in various fields.

According to the results of the "World Happiness Report 2022", issued yesterday by the "Sustainable Development Solutions Network" of the United Nations, the UAE advanced three places in its ranking on the "Global Happiness Index".

According to the results of the report, the UAE ranked 24th globally, compared to 27th globally in the World Happiness Report, 2021.

The total balance of the Emirates this year on the index reached 6,576 degrees, and this year the Emirates outperformed Singapore, which ranked 27th globally, 29th Spain, 31st Italy, 54th Japan, 72nd China, 80th Russia, and 81st Hong Kong globally.

The idea of the "global happiness index" is based on ranking the happiest countries in the world annually, based on a questionnaire that reflects the personal opinions of the residents of each country and its residents in their lives in the country.

The index also links these personal opinions with objective factors to monitor the living standards of the population in each country, namely six factors, namely the country's gross domestic product, the average life expectancy of the population, generosity, social support, freedom and corruption.

The index is also concerned with some non-measurable intangible aspects such as mental health, ethical aspects and their role in achieving happiness, and others.

This year, Finland retained the title of "Happiest Country in the World" for the fifth year in a row.

The balance of the Netherlands in the happiness index this year reached 7.821 degrees, and another Scandinavian country, Denmark, came in second place, and Iceland ranked third, while Switzerland ranked fourth, and the Netherlands fifth.

This year's report included, for the first time, a special indicator that categorized happiness levels at the level of cities by evaluating individuals' lives in general, as it included 186 cities in the world, and Dubai and Abu Dhabi ranked first in the Arab world as the happiest cities.

The World Happiness Report included a study that sheds light on the relationship between the sustainable development goals and quality of life, by analyzing the performance of the countries included in the global happiness index and comparing it with the sustainable development goals index, which is the index that monitors the efforts of countries in the world and their readiness to achieve the 17 sustainable development goals - the global agenda 2030.

The UAE is among the four countries that have appointed a Minister of Happiness so far: the UAE, Bhutan, Ecuador and Venezuela.
