The Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen on Saturday night accused the Houthi rebels of launching a "hostile attack" on an Aramco facility in the Jazan region (south of the kingdom).

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the coalition as saying that "a hostile attack targeted the desalination plant in Al-Shaqeeq and Aramco's facility in Jizan." The agency did not indicate whether or not the production was damaged or affected at the facility.

The coalition considered that the Houthi escalation by targeting civilian and economic facilities was a response to the Gulf call for dialogue.

The coalition also announced the destruction of 4 drones launched towards the southern region of Saudi Arabia.

Reuters news agency quoted two Gulf officials as saying that the Gulf Cooperation Council is studying the possibility of inviting the Houthi group and other Yemeni parties to hold consultations in Riyadh this month, as part of an initiative aimed at strengthening peace efforts led by the United Nations.

The Yemeni Houthi group responded - Saturday - by saying that it would welcome talks with the Saudi-led coalition, but the place should be a neutral country, including Gulf states.
