FIFA donates $1 million to help Ukraine

The International Football Association (FIFA) announced Saturday that it will donate one million dollars to help the victims of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, which is under Russian invasion.

This amount will be allocated to "meet the most urgent needs," added FIFA, which sent first aid kits through its organization.

"The FIFA Foundation is ready to provide part of the necessary assistance by working with the football communities in Ukraine and the region," said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Since the start of the war on Ukraine on February 24, the football world has redoubled its initiatives to support Ukraine.

FIFA punished Russia by excluding it from the European qualifying round for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and the European Union stripped Saint Petersburg of hosting the Champions League final.

FIFA also gave Ukrainian players, as well as foreign players in Ukraine and Russia, the option to sign contracts with other clubs outside the official transfer period.
