Watch .. Biden angers the Irish with an insulting word (video)

US President Joe Biden angered many Irish people with a statement that was understood as linking the Irish with stupidity.

Biden was speaking - during a speech on the sidelines of the annual Friends of Ireland lunch at the Capitol, and began his speech with the sentence: "Well, I want you to know, I may be Irish, but I am not stupid."

Biden was talking about his personal life from his relationship with his father to his marriage to first lady Jill Biden, and said: "Dad, before I begin, bless me (...) I want you to know that I may be Irish, but I am not stupid."

For its part, the British "GB" channel said that Biden "succeeded in insulting the Irish people on St. Patrick's Day."

Biden is of Irish descent.
