While the war in Ukraine continues, the President of the Republic spoke Thursday by telephone with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.

Emmanuel Macron kept him informed of his latest exchanges with President Putin as well as with the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky.

The interview focused on the latest developments in the war in Ukraine.

Prime Minister Trudeau recalled his visit to Europe last week and his consultations with several European heads of state and government.

The President of the Republic, for his part, kept the Canadian Prime Minister informed of his latest exchanges with President Putin and President Zelensky.

Macron reiterates his commitment

They discussed the issue of welcoming refugees fleeing the conflict, while Canada has a large Ukrainian diaspora on its territory.

They also discussed the reinforcement of humanitarian and military aid sent to Ukraine, and agreed to maintain close coordination, in particular in view of the extraordinary NATO summit.

The French head of state also spoke by telephone with Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday.

The President of Ukraine kept the President of the Republic informed of the progress of the negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations.

Emmanuel Macron reiterated his commitment to continue and strengthen France's support for Ukraine, particularly in humanitarian and defense matters.

They will remain in close contact in the coming days.
