No one knows how large groups of refugees from Ukraine will come to Sweden, one scenario is that we will receive 200,000 people before the summer.

Although the voluntary work in many places is underway locally, it is currently unclear how a large organization such as the Red Cross should act in a larger context.

- It is too early to say, states Martin Ärnlöv, who is secretary general of the Swedish Red Cross.

FRG groups organize relief work

The so-called voluntary resource groups have come a little further, FRG groups are part of the Swedish crisis preparedness and are located in 142 municipalities and gather 18 different voluntary organizations under one umbrella, to organize the existing skills.

In Sundsvall and in another 30 or so municipalities, FRG groups have been activated or put on standby.

- We have been asked to gather spontaneous volunteers and staff refugee accommodation with staff, explains Patrik Norberg at FRG Medelpad.
