China News Service, March 18 (Xinhua) According to Reuters, CNN and other reports, at least 21 babies born through surrogacy are waiting to live abroad in a temporary clinic in a basement on the outskirts of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, recently. The parents claimed it and took it back.

Affected by the current situation in Ukraine, only a very small number of babies have been taken away, and most of them still need to wait.

At present, only two couples from Germany and Argentina have arrived in Kyiv to be reunited with their surrogate baby, but it is unclear when they will be able to take the baby out of Ukraine, the report said.

CNN pointed out that the clinic currently has six staff members responsible for feeding and caring for 21 babies.

As the bombs landed closer to the buildings, they also became increasingly concerned about the situation in Ukraine.

Staff member Antonina Yefimovich said the baby could sense fear and worry in the room.

Even so, the staff remained in Kyiv and did not evacuate because they did not want to abandon the babies.

"We really hope their parents will come and pick them up as soon as possible," Yefimovich said.

Ukraine is an "international surrogacy center" and it is estimated that under normal circumstances, thousands of babies are taken by their foreign parents every year, the report said.
