The upper secondary schools International IT College of Sweden in Vasastan in Stockholm, as well as the sister school in Majorna in Gothenburg, will close this summer.

At the same time, Jacobiskolan, formerly Al-Azharskolan, is closing down in Vällingby in Stockholm.

The Swedish Schools Inspectorate has decided to revoke all approvals for the Foundation for Education in Sweden, formerly the Al-Azhar Foundation, which runs the Jacobi School.

The same foundation is owned by the company Edinit AB, which in turn runs the International IT College of Sweden schools, which also have all approvals revoked.

The revocation is made due to lack of suitability in the ownership and management circle.

Both decisions will take effect on June 30 this year.

Students are forced to change schools

The spring term will be the last for the students at all schools.

The high school in Vasastan has about 390 students, and the sister school in Majorna has about 150 students.

At Jacobiskolan, on the other hand, significantly more people are affected, the primary school has around 700 students.

When the schools now close down, the students' home municipalities are obliged to offer the students education in a municipal school.

But students and their parents can also, if space allows, choose an independent school.
