“European Medicines” stops reviewing the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine.. for this reason

Today, Thursday, an official from the European Medicines Agency said that the process of approving the European Union's approval of the Russian "Sputnik V" vaccine against the emerging corona virus has been suspended indefinitely due to the lack of communication with Russian officials.

"There is currently no activity or contact with the Russian authorities...Currently, we do not expect this to happen in the near future," said Fergus Sweeney, the agency's chief of clinical studies.

“Sputnik V” was the first anti-Coronavirus vaccine to be launched, but questions about its effectiveness and irregularities in the Russian approval process raised many questions, while a group of other vaccines were issued at a later time and were already approved and widely used in the European Union.

It is not clear whether the breakdown in contacts with Russian officials is linked to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which triggered a barrage of European sanctions that targeted Moscow and impeded many relations.

The European Medicines Agency began reviewing the “Sputnik V” vaccine a year ago, as part of the process of reviewing its introduction.

This includes reviewing data from research and testing even if no formal application for EU approval has been made.

The idea is to speed up the leave process.

The Sputnik V review has been delayed several times due to a lack of key data.

It has been approved for use in Russia and a few European countries, which are not members of the European Union.
