Coup in Russian live broadcast

In the middle of an ongoing live broadcast on Russian state Channel 1 on Monday evening, the editor Marina Ovsiannikova appeared with a sign behind the newscaster.

The poster read, among other things, "stop the war" and "do not believe in propaganda".

In a clip immediately after the performance, she explained why she carried out the coup.

- I am ashamed that I allowed lies to be told on TV, that I allowed Russians to be "zombie-celebrated", she says in the clip.

Shortly afterwards, she was taken to a police station.

On Tuesday, she was accused of slandering Russia's armed forces.

She was fined the equivalent of approximately 2,700 Swedish kronor and was then released on Tuesday afternoon.

EU leader to Ukraine

The prime ministers of Poland, Slovenia and the Czech Republic traveled to Kyiv on Tuesday to show their support for Ukraine.

"The purpose of the visit is to show the EU's support for Ukraine and its freedom and independence," Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala wrote on Twitter.

The purpose is also to present a concrete emergency package on site.

On Tuesday evening, they met in talks with Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky.

29,000 evacuated

On Tuesday, 29,000 people were evacuated from the hardest-hit cities in so-called humanitarian corridors.

20,000 of the evacuees came from the besieged city of Mariupol.

Two journalists killed

An American photographer who was in Ukraine on behalf of Fox news died on Tuesday.

He was traveling in a car with a journalist from the same channel, Benjamin Hall, who was injured and is still receiving treatment.

A Ukrainian journalist, Oleksandra Kuvshinova, was also killed in the attack.
