The leaders of the three countries traveled to Kyiv by train on Tuesday and were able to meet on Tuesday evening in talks with Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky.

"We must stop the tragedy that is happening in the east as soon as possible," Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki wrote on Facebook as they arrived in the capital.

The fact that the meeting takes place on site in Kyiv is not entirely without risks for those involved.

- It is special to have a meeting in Kyiv in particular, given the current situation.

They come from what Russia describes as "enemy countries".

If you look at the situation that has been, an American journalist has been killed and also his Ukrainian aides were killed, says SVT's reporter Elin Jönsson who is on site in southwestern Ukraine together with photographer Niclas Berglund.

- The situation is very serious and tonight a curfew will be introduced in Kyiv which will last for 1.5 days because it is expected that terrorist attacks may happen.

What is believed is that Russian spies will sabotage and prepare for invasion, because they have not succeeded in capturing Kyiv as planned, says Elin Jönsson in SVT's Aktuellt.

"On the side of Ukraine"

Before the meeting, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala wrote on Twitter:

"The purpose of the visit is to demonstrate the EU's support for Ukraine and its freedom and independence."

- The goal is to show Ukraine its support and pressure so that the negotiations will lead someone everywhere.

They want to show that they dare to go there and stand on the side of Ukraine and Zelensky and that they do not give up.

It is very symbolic that you are in place, says Elin Jönsson.
