  In response to the announcement by Western countries to sanction Russian leaders, Russian officials responded on the 25th that the sanctions by Western countries were "irrelevant" and showed the "absolute incompetence" of the West in foreign policy.

  On the same day, the United States announced new sanctions on Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

The U.S. Treasury Department said the sanctions would apply to Lukashenko and his wife, and that the U.S. would block their U.S. properties and bar Americans from doing business with them.
