As the soaring prices due to the influence of the situation in Ukraine are spreading to food and electricity prices, the Japan Restoration Association has decided to reduce the consumption tax reduction rate and advance the operation plan as an urgent response. We recommended to the government to operate the power plant.

Secretary-general Fujita of the Nippon Ishin no Kai and others met with Minister Hagiuda at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on the 15th, and submitted urgent economic measures in response to the rise in prices due to the influence of the situation in Ukraine.

In this, it is recommended that urgent measures be taken promptly, as the soaring prices have spread to food and electricity prices, and the impact on people's lives is becoming more serious.

Specifically, we are requesting that the reduced consumption tax rate applied to food and beverages be gradually reduced from the current 8% to 3%.

In addition, in order to curb the rise in electricity prices, we are also requesting the operation of nuclear power plants such as Takahama Nuclear Power Plant Units 1 and 2 and Mihama Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 of Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. in Fukui Prefecture, which can advance the operation plan.

Mr. Fujita told reporters, "The discussion on how to secure the energy supply should be based on the theory of reality, and I dared to make a concrete proposal without considering the nuclear power plant as taboo." Said.
