  According to the city's fire department, the fire broke out at about 4:54 a.m. on the 13th in a commercial and residential building at 1842 Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn.

At that time, the fire department dispatched 106 firefighters and emergency personnel to put out the fire. Because there were lithium batteries at the scene, the bureau also dispatched a hazardous substance team.

After more than an hour of fighting, the blaze was brought under control at 6:28 a.m., but a firefighter and a member of the public were injured in the fire and were taken to hospital for treatment.

  When the reporter arrived at the scene at noon on the 13th, they found that the fire was at the Shenghua Chinese takeaway shop on the first floor. Firefighters were still busy in and out of the restaurant at the scene, and a clearing order from the Municipal Buildings Bureau had been posted at the door of the restaurant.

  According to the owner, Mr. Yang, he didn't know the restaurant was on fire until he received a call from the landlord at 6:40 a.m. on the 13th, and the fire had been extinguished by firefighters when he arrived.

At the time, firefighters told him that the electric car used to deliver food in the restaurant exploded while charging and started the blaze.

The loud noise from the explosion of the battery woke the tenants who lived on the second floor. After seeing the smoke, everyone fled out and notified the landlord quickly.

  According to Mr. Yang, he and his wife have been running the restaurant for 10 years, and the customers they usually serve are mainly Africans, Hispanics and Jews.
