British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's spokesman said on Tuesday that Johnson will ask Saudi Arabia to "condemn Russian aggression against Ukraine" in talks later this week.

"We absolutely want to broaden the alliance against Putin's actions," Johnson's spokesman told reporters, regarding the upcoming visit of the British Prime Minister to Saudi Arabia.

And Reuters reported on Monday that British Health Minister Sajid Javid told The Times that Johnson will travel to Saudi Arabia this week, in an attempt to persuade Riyadh to increase its oil production, in light of high oil prices, which threatens to cause a global recession, especially in light of the continuing war. Ukrainian Russian.

Johnson's upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia comes in light of Western powers' efforts to reduce energy supplies from Russia, and to search for alternative sources of oil and gas.

Postponed visit

Johnson was scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia last February, but the visit was postponed due to the Ukrainian crisis, to be compensated by a phone call between the British Prime Minister and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

It should be noted that on March 3, the Saudi Crown Prince received a phone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the call, the relations between Riyadh and Moscow and the status of global oil markets were discussed, as well as the crisis in Ukraine.

Bin Salman expressed the Kingdom's position in support of efforts aimed at a political solution to the current crisis between Moscow and Kiev, adding that Riyadh "is ready to make efforts to mediate between all parties."

The Saudi crown prince also stressed his country's keenness to "maintain the balance and stability of oil markets," and noted the role of the "OPEC Plus" agreement, which includes members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), in addition to Russia and other non-OPEC oil-producing countries.
