A woman in her forties died on the night of Monday to Tuesday in an explosion that took place in a building in La Ciotat (Bouches-du-Rhône), we learned from the firefighters of the SDIS 13 , confirming information from

La Provence

.

The building was not served by gas, say the firefighters, and the 15 other residents of the building were able to return to their apartments following their preventive evacuation.

The explosion did not cause any fire.

Voluntary explosion?

According to the firefighters, it is still too early to determine the causes of the explosion which occurred around three o'clock in the morning.

But according to

La Provence

, it could be of voluntary origin and would have "occurred with the intention of killing oneself by firing a system with, among other things, bottles of alcohol".

An investigation has been opened.
