China News Service, Beijing, March 14 (Li Jingze and Xie Yanbing) Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian hosted a regular press conference on March 14.

A reporter asked: According to reports, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the federal government's 2022 fiscal year omnibus appropriation bill.

One of the clauses prohibits the U.S. executive branch from making, procuring or displaying any maps that "incorrectly indicate" the Taiwan region and islands administered by the Taiwan authorities.

What is China's comment?

Zhao Lijian: There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory.

This is not only a historical and legal fact, but also the consensus of the international community.

Any properly labeled map should be based on the above facts.

The relevant practice of the US side grossly interferes in China's internal affairs and attempts to use the so-called map issue of the Taiwan region to engage in political manipulation to create "two Chinas" and "one China, one Taiwan".

China expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to this.

We warn the U.S. side that playing the "Taiwan card" is like playing with fire with pay, which will not only push Taiwan into a dangerous situation, but also bring unbearable consequences to the U.S. side.

The US should stop hollowing out the one-China principle, stop condoning and supporting "Taiwan independence", return to the original meaning of the one-China principle, abide by its political commitment to China, truly maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and safeguard the overall interests of China-US relations.
