• Construction work on the Tour Triangle began in early February, after years of discussion.

    The project has many opponents.

  • Launched in 2008 under the mandate of the former mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoë, then validated by Anne Hidalgo in 2015, the project should see the light of day in 2026.

  • Enthusiastic or sorry, the residents of the Porte de Versailles explain their point of view on the future Tour Triangle.

"Won't there be any reverberations?" worries Catherine.

And then all the traffic that it will generate… We already have the Parc des Expositions and the Palais des Sports, the district will be completely blocked!

The highly controversial Tour Triangle project leaves residents living near the Porte de Versailles inexhaustible.

Launched in 2008 under the mandate of the former mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoë, then validated by Anne Hidalgo in 2015, the project should see the light of day in 2026. After years of discussions, the site finally began a month ago in the 15th arrondissement of Paris.

“We have four years of work and noise, here we go!

“, quips a building caretaker.

In recent years, the project has been opposed.

A petition, launched by France Nature Environnement (FNE) Paris last November, has gathered more than 15,000 signatures.

A week ago, a neighborhood council was organized in the town hall of the 15th arrondissement to discuss the project.

“It can bring a little life”

“Positive reviews?

It's hard to find,” jokes a teenager in the street.

However, there are some right next to the construction site.

Maxime lives on Boulevard Victor, opposite the future Tour Triangle.

"I hadn't even heard of the controversy until this morning, when I came across a video online," he says.

The young man admits that he "does not have the same priorities" as his older neighbours, who are above all looking for calm.

“If it can bring a little life to the neighborhood, I think it's great.

Apart from the shows, it's a bit dead here.

»

His enthusiasm seems to be shared by the young couple who have just moved in above his home.

"I hope they will give us prices if they build a sports hall," jokes Malika.

More seriously, if it can give work to people I think, that's good.

Both are located at the bottom of the building, their view will not be impacted by the construction of the tower.

The resignation of local residents

In this building, opposite the Porte de Versailles, residents on the top floors are less welcoming of the project.

“They built a vegetable garden on the roof of the Parc des Expositions to promote biodiversity and now they are building a huge tower next door,” protests Marvin.

There is no consistency.

The young man has lived in the building for 25 years, he has seen the neighborhood evolve.

From his balcony, he points to the construction site with his hand.

“Before we had a nice view on the horizon, now we will see buildings to the right, left and opposite,” he laments.

Petitions, neighborhood meetings, he did everything to oppose the project.

In vain.

“They did not wait for our opinion.

Before even telling us about it, they had already razed part of the Parc des Expositions to accommodate the tower.

On the other side of the ring road, Anthony's speech resonates with him from Marvin.

"Anyway, what do you want to do?" asks Annie.

The work has begun, the town hall will not go back.

Like her, many neighbors end up resigning themselves.

For Nathalie, “we just have to wait to see what happens.
